 NATIONAL ENGINEERS’ DAY 2022

The secret behind the growth of a nation is few great minds. It is often said that without a talented minds of an engineer, it is not possible for any nation to progress and record themselves amongst the great countries in the world. Engineers’ day is celebrated on different dates in different countries to give them tribute for their contributions to the society. World Engineers’ Day is celebrated on 4th March by UNESCO but in India, Engineers’ Day is celebrated on 15th September every year to show our gratitude to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, an Indian Civil Engineer on his birth anniversary.This day is also celebrated in Sri Lanka and Tanzania in his memory. He is an inspiration to the young generation who are thinking to start their career as an engineer. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna  for his remarkable contribution to the society. Sir Visvesvaraya achieved celebrity status when he designed a flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad. He was instrumental in developing a system to protect B Visakhapatnam port from sea erosion. This dam created the biggest reservoir in Asia when it was built. Visvesvaraya gave his technical advice for the location of Mokama Bridge  over Ganga in Bihar. He also served as Diwan of Mysore for seven years. At the age of 90 years he was titled as ‘Father of Modern Mysore state’. Muddenahalli was constructed in memory of him as it was marked as his birth place. All his belongings, titles, sculptures of his projects and awards are all exhibited in his memorial.

National Engineers’ Day has a considerable significance to pay tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya but this day also note the contribution of the great minds that works behind the beautiful creations and development of the infrastructure of the country. An engineer constructs infrastructures like buildings, dams, bridges etc. A nation feels proud when their engineers do some exceptional deeds for their country. 15th September also encourages the young generation who chooses to be an engineer to do something for their country. This day also makes people aware about the ample opportunity of engineering.

The Engineer’s Day is one of the important occasions and celebrated in every engineering institution in India. The celebration of this day encourages the interest of all engineers to do something new for the nation. This profession is considered as one of the noble profession in our country. The speeches based on the contributions of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Sir bring joy and enthusiasm among the engineers.

Engineer’s Day 2022 is marked as 55th celebration of National Engineer’s Day. There is no certain formula through which one can become great engineer but obviously an innovative mind, great knowledge about the particular topic and hard work are key to success of a great engineer. An engineer is the one who can bring a dream come true in the society. Whatever technology we are using today are made possible by an engineer. Even our dream house is also designed, built and delivered to us to make it a home.  Every step in this technologically advanced world is a gift of the mind of Engineers. So, on this 15th September let us celebrate and thank to all the engineers out there in our Nation.
